14/100 - “Breathe”


No matter how many times I have trouble falling asleep at night bc of my racing thoughts and constant worries, reminding myself to breathe and consciously focusing on my breath has helped my innumerable counts of times. The worst situation I’ve found myself in recently was in an amusement park funnily enough. It’s a bit embarrassing to tell to be honest. But it looks like in the last couple of years I might have developed a healthy respect for heights? So I went on this one ride which looked totally fine from below. But once we were up and flying in circles my stomach dropped uncomfortably low and my knuckles whitened from where I was gripping the railing too hard. It wasn’t the circles we spun in though. Those were nice. It was just waaayyy too high up and also I didn’t feel that there where enough safety measures. No belt or anything sturdy to keep me in place. I was so not a happy camper. All I could do at that moment was close my eyes and keep trying to breathe in and out. I was steadily counting my breaths trying to relax while the wind was swooshing through my hair and then the machine decided to kick it up a notch. It was whirring and making this awful noise if gaining even more speed and I just prayed that I got out of this one alive. It’s funny thinking about it now. But back then I was completely terrified. The moment we set down and I got to leave the attraction my legs wobbled soooo bad, I actually felt faint, no kidding. Yeah. Well. I learned something that day and I will be a bit more careful with my own limits from now on 😬
