Small but Mighty

These three smaller canvases have been quietly waiting for their moment. Each one holds its own little world, and a little piece of my life in Seoul.

My deep love of turquoise tends to seep into many of my paintings, giving them an underwater-like quality. This can both feel serene and eerie at the same time.

I really like the idea of having a window to an underwater scene in your home.

Because that’s what paintings do. Giving you a window, a way for your eyes to travel, where there was a wall before.

And as silly as it sounds, I always wanted to be a mermaid growing up. The weightlessness and elegance. The glittering scales, and long flowy hair. The way sunshine looks on the surface of the lake when you look up from beneath it. The quiet. All deeply magical to me.

I'm done waiting
€1,190.00

I’m not saying I’m impatient, but why hasn’t my life magically changed for the better the second I moved across the world?

My old life back home felt like shoes I had outgrown.

Yet here I am in this shiny new city, and I feel overwhelmed, and tired from a way-too-long flight, and I just want to arrive. Somewhere. Anywhere. Now.

Before I even had real furniture in my new apartment in Gangnam, I painted this. On edge, needing to express all the unmet expectations. Expel all my frustration. My desire for life to be easy just once. Reeling from the transformation I chose to undergo by uprooting my whole life.

“I’m done waiting“ holds all these feelings at once: restlessness, alive and buzzing, a little disillusioned, maybe a teensy bit sleep-deprived, but determined to forge your own way.

"Compelling Communication"
€1,390.00

A look across a room. A pause, A slight shift in posture. Eye contact that sizzles along your nerves. That makes you feel shy and look down.

How elusive, yet fascinating this language is. The moment before the first words. The liminal space between awareness and connection. How hard it can be to just say hi.

Tension that is fun and nerve-wracking. Your body that betrays you by blushing. Sweaty palms giving you away.

It is much easier to paint these feelings than to actually make eye contact and smile at a stranger.
