My deep love of turquoise tends to seep into many of my paintings, giving them an underwater-like quality. This can both feel serene and eerie at the same time. I really like the idea of having a window to an underwater scene in your home. Because that’s what paintings do. Giving you a window, a way for your eyes to travel, where there was a wall before. And as silly as it sounds, I always wanted to be a mermaid growing up. The weightlessness and elegance. The glittering scales, and long flowy hair. The way sunshine looks on the surface of the lake when you look up from beneath it. The quiet. All deeply magical to me.

Seeing stars at night is almost as precious as this gold leaf for me as a city dweller. I am drawn to the moon and stars and prefer to go for my walks at night. The rare glimpses of starlight I catch are very dear to me.

I love to think the world is more magical than it appears to the naked eye. Like spotting glimmers in everyday life I am also looking for the otherness, for synchronicities and the unexplainable. 

When I was a teenager I would read books about witchcraft and rituals. Later those became books about manifesting and the law of attraction. 

I have hidden a tiny bit of magic in each of these paintings.

I had to change school because we moved when I was 8 or 9. And at the new school I didn‘t have the easiest time. Kids played pranks on me, girls pretended to be my friends only to talk badly behind my back. Some of the boys would even wait after school for me to shout taunts and kick me. I was so severely bullied I internalized that something must be wrong with me. 

It took a while. And a very nurturing kind friend to help me be ok with who I am. 

I tend to always see the positive in any given situation and while that time in my life was awful I am proud of who I have become and how it shaped me. 

And this painting might just help you accept yourself for the wonderful person you are.

Originally the term is coined after a Snake swallowing its own tail. The symbol of infinity.

But endless is not always good. If you feel stuck in a hamster wheel of life only you have the power to break out.
