Playing Sims and how it helps me keeping my head as an artist

Have you ever played Sims?

Whenever I play it, I always model the Sim after myself and I mostly choose the artist career path.

I'm making them really ambitious and they are painting day and night. It's a bit tough at first, sometimes they have to sell their sink to afford food, but then it gets easier and money starts rolling in faster and faster and in the end my Sim has no trouble selling paintings for 10'000 Simoleons (the games currency) and more.

But what I like most is, that whenever they finish a painting, no matter how ugly, they just throw it in the air and get a few bucks for it, instantly.

Sometimes I dream of it being that easy. I actually play the game as a way to visualize that it can be that easy.

No going to Art Fairs, no knocking at gallery doors or even attending art school! They paint because they want to (or I make them want to 😏) and then they sell to have room to paint the next one and get better in the process!

Paint a picture. Take a photo with your smartphone, upload it to the social media platform of your choice and 'PUFF' it's sold!

Just imagine it for a minute.

And I just really like the idea of me finishing up painting and then throwing it in the air and it turns into money 😂

I love painting so much it keeps me awake at night.

And I also love selling my paintings. The rush of excitement, it's addictive!

By the way, the concept that artists are not allowed to talk about money is so desperately outdated it makes me cringe!
